On October 1, 2024, the University of Applied Sciences in Security and Safety, in collaboration with the Swiss School of Business and Management Geneva and the Franco-Croatian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, organized a specialized professional conference called “SECURITY 24: Security in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.”
The event brought together members of the academic and professional community, as well as management board members of major industry leaders and experts in various security domains. The conference was hosted by experienced presenter Iva Šulentić and opened by Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Butković. The conference aimed to introduce the basic concept of artificial intelligence to the attendees through lectures and panel discussions. Some of the topics discussed included the role of artificial intelligence in preventing cyberattacks, its potential in preventing terrorist activities, and its impact on occupational safety, fire protection, and environmental protection.
We were pleased to support this conference, and Krešimir Paić, General Manager and co-owner of Eccos, participated in the panel discussion on “Artificial Intelligence in Fire Protection and Environmental Protection.” He presented concrete examples of the use of artificial intelligence in video surveillance systems, systems used by hospitals and health institutions, as well as in complex fire protection systems. He particularly highlighted that the application of artificial intelligence allows systems to “learn” different scenarios, enabling quick and timely reactions in incident situations. However, he also warned about the potential dangers of using artificial intelligence if incorrect data is input or if its results are misinterpreted.
