Vision Zero is an expert meeting organized by business magazine Poslovni dnevnik as part of a project aimed at increasing traffic safety. It aims to warn of key indicators and weaknesses that stand in Croatia’s way of achieving the National Road Traffic Safety Plan and the Vision Zero concept.
The expert meeting, on the eve of the largest influx of vehicles into our country during the tourist season, aimed to highlight the primary challenges and technological opportunities available to us. The goal is to move towards a concept that aims to eliminate fatal consequences and serious injuries in traffic.
This year’s meeting took place on July 8 in Zagreb at the Zonar Hotel and brought together important traffic, security and technology experts. The event included expert panel discussions, presentations, and talks by industry leaders.
Ivan Bilać, our Sales Manager, took part in the panel discussion Technological Solutions for Safer Driving. The discussion focused on analyzing various technological solutions that enhance driving safety. Implementing technology for assessing traffic behavior requires meeting several technical and organizational prerequisites. Furthermore, the legal regulations at the European Union level ensure the application of such solutions.
In addition to smart drivers and vehicles, smart roads must also be considered to achieve the Vision Zero concept.
„As for road traffic, Eccos implements advanced safety systems. An example of such a large infrastructure project is the construction of the second tube of the Učka tunnel. In this project, all electrical and mechanical systems are being implemented, including power supply, ventilation, SOS telephones, radio broadcasting, fire alarms, lighting, as well as video surveillance systems with advanced capabilities such as AID for automatic incident detection and ADR for monitoring the traffic of vehicles carrying dangerous goods, » explained Ivan Bilać.
The meeting highlighted the advantages and disadvantages of Croatian road traffic safety, as well as the challenges and technological possibilities available to us to achieve the vision of zero traffic fatalities by 2050.
