We attended the expert meeting Vision Zero — Road Traffic Safety hosted by the business magazine Poslovni dnevnik in Zagreb.
The primary objective of this meeting was to raise awareness about the most common causes of traffic accidents, and the key indicators and weaknesses that stand in the way of achieving the goals of the National Safety Plan. The ultimate aim of this plan is to achieve the Vision Zero goal, which is to make Europe the first continent without any road fatalities by 2050.
The meeting began with presentation by Josip Mataija from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he shared interesting statistics related to the current state of road traffic safety. While the number of road accidents is still high, it is encouraging to know that the number has been decreasing over the years.
During the first panel discussion, it was concluded that the Vision Zero concept must be approached jointly, starting with the transport system and ending with the careful planning and design of the transport system and infrastructure. The second panel discussion focused on technological solutions that can help achieve this goal.
Numerous technologies can make traffic safer, and we received concrete examples from company representatives, including our sales director, Ivan Bilać, who referred to the security solutions that Eccos is currently implementing on the project to build the second tube of the Učka tunnel.
We are happy that we had the opportunity to exchange ideas and opinions to improve the transport system and help achieve the Vision Zero goal on European roads.
